Frequently Asked Questions

When I'm searching for products, how do I manipulate my search terms to narrow (or expand) the scope of my search results?

To expand the scope of a search, use a minimum of terms, or fragments of words. For example, exterior lighting will find all incidences of products containing the words exterior and lighting (though not necessarily the entire phrase) in their descriptions. If you shorten this to lighting you might get results on both exterior and interior lighting, while shortening it to light would also collect results for lights (plural), light (singular), spotlight, lighting, lightweight, and so forth.

To narrow the scope of a search, use more words. In effect, you would be doing the exact opposite of what's suggested in the preceding advice - if all you want to know about are exterior lights, use that phrase. If you want to know about a specific line of products, you might try one of the names for that particular product if you've heard of it beforehand - baldwin exeter or medeco high security lock, for example.

All searches are case-insensitive, meaning that it does not matter if you use capital letters or lower-case letters in a search term.

If you have more than one word or fragment in a search term, the search engine will assume that you're looking for results that include both words/fragments.
